Relative Links vs. Full URLs
When you add a link to a menu bar or simply a text link within body copy, there are two different types of links you need to know about.
- Full URLs - When you link to a website or web page outside of your site, then you should use a full URL. Here's example: http://www.google.com. It includes the http://...
- Relative Link - A Relative link is used within your website like linking a services page within your main menu or linking a word within your body copy to another page in your website.
Where do I add which?
- Image Links - must be full URL
- Email to a Friend in Item Type Views - must be full URL
- Item Type Fields such as WEb URL text fields - must be full URL
- Menu Bar Links - can be relative links
- Text Editor Links - can be relative links
