Families, groups and organizations have already expressed interest in renting areas of the new Carl Junction Community Center for reunions and other functions. The city has set rental prices for residents and non-residents alike. City Administrator Steve Lawver explained residents will be able to use the facilities at a lower rate than those residing outside the city. The media center, dining hall, expanded dining hall and gymnasium are all available to the public and may be rented through City Hall.

The media center seats 24-48 and is audio/visual capable. It includes access to the warming kitchen. The rental cost for residents is $75, plus a $25 refundable deposit. Cost for non-residents is $100 plus a $25 deposit.

The dining hall seats 112, while the expanded dining hall seats 160. Both are also audio/visual capable and include warming kitchen access. The cost for the dining hall is $150 plus $50 deposit for residents and $200 and $50 deposit for non-residents. Cost to rent the expanded dining hall is $200 plus $75 deposit for residents and $275 rent and $75 deposit for non-residents.

The gymnasium is also available for rental. The gym seats 240 and is audio/visual capable. Rental also includes access to the warming kitchen. Cost to rent the gym is $200 rent and $100 refundable security deposit for residents, and $400 rent, plus $100 deposit for non-residents.

Payment of the fee must be made when reserving the space. Deposits will be returned if the room is left clean and orderly at the time of closing. Any and all damage costs will be borne by the renting party.

Cancellations must be made seven days prior to the event. No refunds will be made if cancellation is not received one week prior to the reserved date.

Some portions of the building may not be available until after 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. Anyone interested in reserving space at the new community center should call the Carl Junction City Hall at 417-649-7237.
