A co-worker and I were talking about another denomination that believes there is more than one heaven. This verse says God created the heavens and the earth. Is there more than one heaven? I always thought this referred to the vastness of heaven.


ANSWER: It does refer to the vastness of heaven. In the NT Paul writes about the 'layers' of the heavens. THis is simply a description of atmoshperes. We see the sky (the heavens) but beyond what we see is the spiritual realm - the 'third heaven' spoken of by Paul in the NT. Maybe your friend is thinking along these lines. THere are others who believe there are layers to the Spiritual realm - we have no Biblical proof of this. Hope that helps.
